Together we can keep it safe as it grows.
Arson Awareness Week
Arson fires cause millions of dollars in loss each year and hundreds more people are injured or lose their lives due to arson fires. Arson Awareness Week is in May. Take time out during this week to evaluate your property and remove items that may be targeted. Houses of worship should pay close attention to outside lighting, bushes that may hide doors, and making sure doors lock properly. For more information, visit the U.S. Fire Administration website.
Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is in the month of October. The Fire Department visits schools, day care centers, and senior citizen homes during that time and also welcomes area residents to visit their local fire station. Please contact us to schedule your tour and remember to make every week fire prevention week.

Fire extinguishers can be your first line of defense if you discover a small, incipient fire. Knowing how to use them properly can mean the difference between saving your property and risking your life. While the Hobart Fire Department strongly urges citizens to exit a building when a fire is discovered, the basic fundamentals of fire extinguishers can be useful information. Disaster Planning
