Welcome to the Geographic Information System (GIS) page for the City of Hobart. Here, you can stay up to date on our major projects, find examples of maps and applications that use our enterprise data, and provide feedback on our products and services. City of Hobart GIS is all about spatial data. We are constantly working on creating, maintaining, and delivering to the public and users the most accurate and reliable GIS datasets we can. We supply datasets, services, and applications to City staff, as well as to visitors to the public website and other departmental sites which host our maps and apps. This site is a portal not only to interactive mapping applications, static map sets, and data downloads, but it also has unique tools for exploring the City through our Public GIS website. What is GIS?
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system used to capture, manage and display geographically referenced information. GIS provides the ability to: visualize where places or features are in proximity to each other, observe patterns in their distribution, and analyze change and relationships in the form of maps and reports.

· The City of Hobart GIS has more than 63 data layers, including addresses, streets, parcels, parks, zoning, city boundaries, council districts, and underground utilities
· The City of Hobart has more than 13,500 parcels and more than 11,300 addresses
· The City maintains approximately 3,667.5 miles of streets, 261.6 miles of underground utility piping and over 11,000 utility assets.
